The birth of the Revival
From a covenant around seven pillars to the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, the Revival was born at Anendaka in 1895 and spread through the "Iraka" missionaries.
The covenant of the seven pillars
On 9 June 1895, at Anendaka, Rainisoalambo and his relatives made a covenant with God around seven pillars: to read and write so as to know the Word, to live in simplicity, to make the home a place of worship, and to begin everything with prayer.
The outpouring of the Holy Spirit
Gathered later at Ambalavato, the Holy Spirit descended upon them and filled them with an unknown joy. They prayed three times a day, and the place of their gathering trembled. To this day, 9 June is commemorated every year.
The work spreads through the "Iraka"
The work grew quickly: a church at Andohamahavanona in 1896, then the training of the "Iraka" missionaries. On 2 July 1899, five of them set out to preach repentance and love throughout the provinces.
